Life Update

I realize I've not posted for some time but I've had loads and loads of over time at work and since I'm saving up for a holiday a girl just can't say no!
I have been staying at my boyfriend's since all the over time at work and have literally just packed my work clothes, pj's and some essential make up pieces so have not been able to do any looks or reviews of new products or fashion pieces I have got.

However I am going home on Thursday so will be updating more from then as my work load will be considerably less.

So obviously I cannot do a fashion post or anything so thought I'd do a quick update on my life in general in the form of bullet points because who doesn't love bullet point lists, the list is short I have a boring life so here goes:

  • I have had an unconditional offer to my university of choice to study fashion retail management so am looking forward to that come September. I am trying to sort out accommodation which seems to be taking up a chunk of my time and making sure student finance is going to go through, preparing for uni is stressful.
  • I am going to America in August so my official weight loss/look good in a bikini diet healthy eating exercise plan starts now, I have left it far too late but I do work better under pressure so maybe I can lose a bit before I finally depart. Although saying that I've lost a stone but then put a little on then lost a little then put a little on so at least I'm not as big as when I first first started.
  • My best friend is getting married next year and it was a massive announcement so hopefully we will be doing wedding-y things which will be lovely.
  • I am going to London soon to see my best friend.
  • My friends 21st is this week.
  • My mom's party is next week.
  • Me and my boyfriend are planning to go away in July.
As you can see not an amazingly lot of stuff has happened but I've been out and about with friends but I suppose working I've been kind of shut away from the outside world.

So forgive me but expect some fab posts coming to you VERY soon.

Wish List

Wish List: 1,2,3,4
1: Grey topshop maxi skirt, I already have this skirt but in black but I fancy a grey one as well so I can wear a shirt and grey maxi cardi with it and some cute shoes.
2: Peplum shirt from ASOS, peplum is everywhere and I do not have the figure for a peplum dress so my compromise is this top which looks like it should be super flattering teamed with a black skirt and boots I reckon it would look quite good.
3: Ombre trousers with elastic cuff from ASOS, I do not wear trousers very often but I love the look of these, they look summery and casual so I can just wear them with a vest some sandals and be ready for a day in the sun. These are on my payday list, so we'll see.
4: Topshop flats, I would never normally even give these shoes a second look as they are not very me but I thought with a pair of shorts or a skirt they would look kind of cute, these are £60 from topshop and more than I'm willing to pay but maybe a copy pair from Ebay or something might be coming my way this payday.

Burberry: Emerging Talent

Christopher Bailey chief creative designer of Burberry has used British emerging music artists in the new eye wear campaign.
One night only, Marika Hackman, Daydream club and life in film are all participating in the campaign as well as one of the acts releasing an exclusive track each week for the month.

What do you think about Burberry going against the grain and enlisting help from un-known people rather than huge celebrities?

21st Spa Day

For my 21st Birthday my mom organised a Spa day for me and herself, we went to Fairview Lawn Spa and it was absolutley amazing.
The room was so big and comfy, now I'm one of those people that always check out the bathroom in a hotel to see how glam it is and I must say these did not dissapoint, waterfall style shower, black tiled floors and complimentary toiletries you just cannot complain about that.
Robes and slippers were complimentary so we slipped into swimming costumes and spent the next 24 hours in a robe and slippers, it was bliss.

We were booked in for a dry floatation and a mud chamber experience.
On the first day we did the mud chamber experience, we were put in a black mosiac room with colour changing lights and had little tubs of mud that we had to run into different places, grey mud for face, black mud for arms and so on until we were completly covered in mud.
After that steam was used so the mud would penetrate deeper and faster we sat in there for 40 minutes until a light mist came down and washed it all off.

We then spent the day relaxing by the pool, sunbathing and trying out the various steam rooms.

Evening meal was a 4 course with bread, starters, main and desert.
My mom had told them it was my birthday so there was balloons and the chef gave us a complimentry apple foam and raspberry jelly, it was so strange yet really refreshing.
I had the goats cheese, steak and then cheese board, my mom had duck parfait, steak and a souffle I think?

After that it was time for a lie down so me and my ate chocolate in bed and watched anchor man.

In the morning I was sitting in the room reading when I heard a knock at the door, so I opened it to see 2 girls standing there with breakfast, baloons and presents, some how my mom had managed to sneak my birthday presents in and give them to reception without me knowing.
So we had breakfast in bed (rise krispies, toast jam and tea) and I opened my presents which included a camera and money box.

Before we knew it, it was time for our dry floatation, we were laid on 2 beds wrapped in sheets and had eye masks placed on our faces, the woman then set up the beds and left what happened next was so peculiar the bed started inflating with water and then proceeded to vibrate on and off for 30 minutes I dropped off and before I knew it the woman was back waking us up and telling us it was over, I can't believe how relaxing it actually was.

We proceeded to do EVEN MORE relaxing in the steam rooms I went for a swim and we sat in the sun till it was time to go home.

The whole day/night was even better than I could have imagined and I must have thanked my mom a million times over because she put so much thought and effort into the whole thing.
Think maybe next year it's my turn to treat her!!

Hand Chain and Bow Tie

For the whole month of April I'm on a shopping ban to try and save money for my holiday so it's a good job I bought these in March with my birthday money.
Both from ASOS I used the Style Saver and they got here today.

I've been seeing some gorgeous girlie and cute bow ties around and I wanted a cheap but nice one and was looking everywhere and then I found this beauty on ASOS reduced Oh Yes! So snapped this bad boy up, I'm wearing it with my River Island shirt but reckon it will also go well with my blue chiffon shirt from New Look.

As well as bow ties I've also seen some hand chains knocking around I remember being 12 and having a pearl and gold hand chain but I broke it and that was that so I'm happy to be seeing these around again.
This one is a goats head chain with an adjustable ring, again reduced from ASOS.
I reckon it's more for nights out then a day sort of look but none the less it will definitely get it's wear.

Anybody got any goodies to show?

OOTD: first one ever!

This is the first outfit post I've done, it's a bit sketchy but I'm sure I'll get better the more I do, might try the next lot in the garden who knows.
Anyway I'm layering my new jumper my boyfriend got me from zoo with a vest from Topshop because of the unreliable British weather we never know if it's going to be cold or hothothot, the skirt and ring is from Topshop, necklace from ASOS and the shoes are from some local shop that I can't remember the name of ?
Excuse my horrible nails for some reason they keep breaking and splitting anyone know of any product that could sort them out?
Any one got any OOTD to show?

Lana Del Rey: Vintage Americano

Lana del rey kind of sprung up out of no-where and captured our eyes and ears with her breath-taking voice and beautiful lyrics, she went on to win a Brit Award and I for one have been listening to her ever since, her album is a repeat offender on my ipod and I have listened to many of her songs not released on youtube, do yourself a favour and just search her name and listen to the raw talent.

But not only is her voice unique but I find myself looking at her for fashion inspiration she does the classic sexy siren look very well but I prefer her more sort of vintage americano look myself with a twist using gold jewellery and pretty shirts.

I took a pretty recognizable picture of her and tried to re-create the look with buys off the high street and this is what I got.

21st Birthday Haul

It was my 21st birthday on Thursday and after having come back from a lovely spa stay (more on that in another post) I got to open presents from friends and family. Here's some of the stuff I got.

My sister got me a goody bag of stuff and I thought it was all so nice because I can tell she put a lot of thought into every thing she bought.
She got me a notebook, some eyelashes, a purple shatter nail polish and a pink lipstick which is super moisturizing and has a nice sheer sort of colour.
I haven't wore the eyelashes yet but because they are a natural set I may wear them in the day which I've never done before I normally reserve my eyelashes for nights out.
Does anyone else wear eyelashes in the day?

My uncle got me a gorgeous yet simple and subtle Pandora bracelet which is leather bound I like the simplicity of it and if I get any charms I'd wear just one or two with it but definitely would not over clutter the bracelet.

My best friend also got me a selection of presents, it was also her birthday a few days before so we've had a lot to celebrate the past week, I got her a lady gaga book, an eyeko eye liner and a big orange topshop ring.
She got me some sleep in curlers because she knows I'm heavily into curling my hair, the new eyeliner tattoo's that have recently came out has anyone else seen them? Have you got a pair? I'll have to do some sort of review on these soon. She also got me some gorgeous jewellery, a cross necklace which I saw on ASOS and she sneakily bought it for me, a pair of earrings which are so pretty yet make a lovely statement and she got me two rings which connect with a metal chain I think this is so unique and make a bold addition to an outfit.

My parents got me a spa break (which I'm going to write about in another post) and in the morning we had breakfast in bed, so I heard a knock at the door and there stood 2 girls breakfast in one hand and presents in the other, some how my mom managed to sneak the presents in and give them to the staff.
It was an amazing suprise and opened them up while digging into rice krispsies and toast and jam, I got an amazing money jar which you have to break to get into and has 21st treats written on, I'm using it to save up for my holiday so any spare change is going right in here.
The second thing she got me was a huge suprise- a camera!!! I needed a camera for a while and had pointed a few out but had never in a million years thought I'd actually get one. So as you can imagine my face was light up with delight and I must have said thank you about a million times over.

The day after my birthday me and my friend went shopping and this is just the stuff I got from some birthday money.
A skull necklace from Topshop which goes really nice under a shirt collar. Also I love the colours and it reminds me of the Vivienne Westwood one.
The second thing I got was a shirt from River Island in the sale at £12 I liked it because of the cute cowboy style neck tie which I thought made it more interesting.
Lastly I got these boot shoes because they reminded me of the Jeffery Campbell Lita's and they are so high plus I never know when I'm going to wear them but I just had to have them!

Lastly my boyfriend took  me shopping and got me a bunch of stuff in Derby.
The first picture is a jumper from River Island that was reduced to £12 I thought it was a gorgeous colour and imagine it to go quite well with my maxi skirt.
He also got me a skirt from Topshop as my other black skirt is now too big (yay) and some cream blush (review later)
Lastly we went to a shop called zoo where we got this cream oversized jumper for £15 (bargain) it's so light that I thought it would make a great cover up for the summer evenings.

Well that's it for my birthday post I've done a lot of shopping and have enough clothes now to last me forever which is good as me and my mom are on a shopping ban for the whole of april eek but more on that in another post.
I had an amazing birthday week and am sad to be back at work again tomorrow :(
but I'm so happy at everything I got and the time I spent with my mom at the spa, which I think was the best present of all.

What was your favorite piece of clothing?

Mid Week Shopping

Brown Platform Loafers- Primark
Black Boots- New Look
Dress- Primark

When your friend has the day off work and suggests going shopping one does not simply say no.

I have A LOT of shoes but then a pair gets reduced to £6 and well what kind of girl would I be if I simply walked off without at least trying them on, now let me say when you try a pair of shoes and they fit like a glove and are not only gorgeous but comfy you HAVE to buy them, I'm not yet sure what they will go with but I'm thinking some beige trousers and cream shirt.

The second pair of shoes are from New Look and I kept seeing similar pairs around and really (let me say that again) really wanted some. These have a silver bar going across the front which I thought added an interesting touch, they are comfy AND went with the outfit I was wearing (Grey Topshop midi dress with black leopard print kimono) so with £27.99 down they were mine, my friend wanted some as well but there were none left in her size, but she can borrow mine...if she can prise them off my feet.

With the weather getting warmer I can't help but look at these sorts of light flowing dresses, stripes seem to be everywhere right now so I thought this one would be a good choice, they also had aztec print, leopard and a gorgeous scarf print as well.
The dress fits my figure quite nicely and skims over the bits you really do not want people looking at, the length on me is a little bit short but I just won't bend down in it.
This beaut was £10 from Primark and is very happy in my wardrobe.

Has any one else had a midweek shopping trip?
If so what did you buy?

Girl about town

First of all let me apologise for the picture quality I currently don't have a camera so these pictures are a mix of web cam and phone camera pictures.
On Friday I had my interview at Birmingham City University to study fashion retail management, it went alright and I'll hear back in about a week, but after the interview me and my mom went into selfridges and had a look around.
You could literally spend so much money in that place it is ridiculous, we went round the food hall and got some lucky charms, frosting and krispy Kream's.
Then we decided to look at the Make-up counters, my mom treated herself to some MAC studio fix foundation which makes her skin look amazing.
She then said she'd treat me to something and a girl just cannot say no to an offer like that.
I've seen the girl about town lipstick from MAC just about everywhere on blogs, people raving about the colour so I had my eye on it for a while.
I grabbed a swatch of it and fell in love so had to have it.
It made it's first début while I was at work on Saturday and it lasted ALL day with no re-applications so that was an absolute bonus for me.

Today has been a nice chilled out day, with it being Mother's day I've been on tea duty all day and managed to make my mom bacon sandwiches before giving her the presents off me and my sister, we got her a Lorraine Pascale baking made easy cook book because my mom just absolutely adores baking cakes you have not lived till you've tried her cupcakes and millionaire's shortbread- absolutely amazing. we also got her some Umberto Giannini hair masque and frizz control spray and a silk jasmine scented eye mask.
What did you guys get your mom?

Happy Mother's Day all.
